I’ve been busy selling the benefits of angling to both politicians and the public of late. Last week we were introducing members of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Angling to the delights of float fishing the river Test for chub and grayling and this week I was featured on the BBC Daily Politics Show talking about life after politics and my work as National Campaigns Coordinator for the Angling Trust.

Political reporter David Thompson and I go back a fair old way and with David being a keen angler himself we always joked that we needed to find an excuse to get us away from Westminster for a days filming on the riverbank. Well it didn’t happen when I was an MP but it nice not to have been forgotten and to have the chance to talk about angling and the Trust on mainstream TV. All too often coverage of angling is confined to our own specialist media and any opportunities we get to put the message out there about the great work that goes on in our sport and the good that we do for both society and the environment should be grabbed with both hands in my view.
Now the sharp eyed among you will have spotted a certain chronological problem with the October posts. This is down to my technical inability but the gremlins have now been sorted and hopefully a more logical sequence will follow in future posts !
