Talk about chalk and cheese. Two weeks ago I’m splashing on the factor 50 in preparation for a day on the flats, hunting bonefish and GTs, in the searing heat of the Indian Ocean and this week I’m piling on the layers to guard against a bitter easterly, straight off the Siberian plains, which threatened to cut short a Thames chub session. And the good news is that it’s set to get even colder !
So here’s a better idea. Why not forget about going fishing this weekend and come down to the Big One at Farnborough and experience the biggest and best tackle show of the year.
I shall be down there all day on Saturday and the Angling Trust crew will be covering the whole weekend. You can find us on our stand at C4 near the catering area, just round the corner from our old mate and Angling Trust ambassador Dave Harrell. We have some great new bait and tackle offers for new joiners both of which are worth, in cash terms, more than the £25 subscription.
The tackle trade has been through a tough patch recently, not just with the recession but with some bloody dreadful weather keeping fishing numbers down. The trade needs our support so come along and check out some of the fantastic new products on display at the Big One, meet some of the top names in our sport and talk to the Angling Trust about the issues that matter to you and your fishing. It really is a great day out and you ain’t gonna catch much this weekend in this weather – trust me !
See you there
Martin
